VMAs 2014 Fashion Review

Hello Fashionistas!

The Video Music Awards are the event that everyone was anxiously.. Why? Well, after last year's Miley's performance it was just too hard to ignore VMAs. This year, the show was hosted in The Forum in Inglewood, Los Angeles, and Hollywood's hottest stars attended. And of course, some amazing outfits were spotted.. VMAs is a fashion trend-setter for every other award show, so get ready to be amazed, because fashion in the VMAs isn't a game. But allow me to sum it up real quick for you guys: Ariana isn't a good girl anymore, Beyoncé SLAYED with her breathtaking show, Nicki Minaj had a major wardrobe malfunction -but still managed to kill it-, Iggy Azalea wore the most shiny Versace dress you've ever seen, oh and Katy Perry showed up in denim head-to-toe, in a wonderful remake of Britney Spears and Justin Timberlake's matching denim outfits in 2002. Too much? Yeah, let's take it a step at a time.

1. Ariana Grande

I don't know how her good girl to bad girl transformation happened so quickly, but damn, she brought the whole bad girl game to a new level. And when she showed up on the red carpet with an all leather outfit and gold Moschino chains all over, we knew she was not longer the adorable Cat, but a grown self-confident women. And then, while opening the show, she rocked a hot black bodysuit and thigh-high boots. Ariana, show 'em how it's done.

2. Beyoncé

Aye, Queen Bey is the house with her FLAWLESS looks, that basically screamed "I am a mom but look at me I rule this". On the red carpet she wore a glittery black gown, which showed off her curves beautifully, and on the press room she wore a gorgeous red gown, with see-through sides that turned heads. Finally, on her 16-minute performance she wore a Tom Ford multicolor diamond studded bodysuit and she pretty much looked like a divine mosaic of sheer radiance.

3. Taylor Swift

Taylor was completely off my radar before the red carpet event begun, because I thought she would play safe and wear a simple and modest dress, but boy was I wrong. She wore a blue-gold onesie, with 80s influences (Her new album will be named 1989, so she was dropping hints) and get this: she actually wore less clothing than Miley Cyrus. Talk about a plot twist. And then, during her performance, she wore a white, glittery, and kind of vintage outfit.

4. Katy Perry and Riff Raff

Legendary stuff happing over here, these two had Versace make them denim outfits to match the ones Justin and Britney wore many, many VMAs ago, paying homage to what is believed to be the most iconic VMA outfit. She said she was going for Best Dressed on the awards, but who could ever expect this. Tumblr, this is the moment you have been waiting for.

5. Iggy Azalea

Who dat? Who dat? It's Iggy on the red carpet with her overly shiny Versace dress, which reminds me of E.T., in an a good way (no shade, no shade). Later, on the awards she wore an amazing black and white gown, which she didn't get to keep on for too long since she had to change to perform "Black Widow" with British artist Rita Ora. And they wore matching spider outfits, you guys.

6. Nicki Minaj

Oh My Gawd, it's Nicki Minaj and now that she dropped the crazy hair and the ridiculous outfits, she looks stunning. On the red carpet she wore a fierce shiny animal print short dress and cream heels, an outfit not as impressive as I hoped it to be, but still fabulous. During her "Anaconda" performance she wore a green sparkly bra and matching shorts, which definitely turned heads. Finally, she didn't have enough time to zip up her dress for "Bang Bang" so she had to hold her dress together while rapping. Not only did she survived this major wardrobe malfunction, she rocked it.

7. The Kardashians

And then the queens arrived. Kendall styled her hair flat, and wore a black jumpsuit, with the entire top see-through. Kylie wore a black gown with a huge leg cut, and finally Kim Kardashian West wore a red-white-black printed dress, and a pair of impressive black heels. A little bit too dark for a summer event, but maybe their stylist was inspired by Maleficent (just saying).

So that was it! My top 7 outfits from the VMAs. Oh and in case you missed it, I live tweeted the whole thing (all tweets are still up on @DailyCityGirl on Twitter). Hours and hours of watching the all access fashion cameras, and since I live outside the US, I had to stay up until 5 am to watch the entire red carpet show, but it was totally worth it. Alright since I'll feel awfully bad if I don't mention these stars who totally rocked the red carpet, one last collage with 3 celebrities whose outfits were a total win:
